At Kent Engineering, our team is our advantage. Our materials and corrosion engineering team possesses extensive practical and consulting experience across numerous industries, specializations, and geographic areas. Our experts are full time consultants and part time professors at the University of Washington who specialize in metals, weldments, polymers, ceramics, and coatings.

We conduct analysis at our materials laboratory in Seattle, WA but travel around the world consulting for industries such as construction, crane and heavy machinery, aerospace, manufacturing, consumer products, transportation, maritime, and food processing.  Using a wide variety of analytical techniques, our team determines failure root cause and solutions to corrosion, fatigue, or material defect related problems.

Founder and principal of Kent Engineering, Randy Kent is a Registered Professional Engineer with over 37 years of experience in failure analysis and mechanical engineering forensics.  Randy holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in in metallurgical engineering, both from the University of Washington.

Mike is a Senior Engineer with over 45 years in the field. He received his BS in metallurgical engineering and his master’s degree in material science, both from Oregon State University. He’s also a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Oregon.

Michael is a welding engineer and project manager, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University and completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from University of Washington. He is a certified welding engineer (CWEng), certified welding inspector (CWI) and an ASNT Level II Visual Inspector. He is also a certified Solidworks Professional.
